lyrics

Kelly goes to pick her mail
from a post office box.
Kelly knows that I don't
hold her work against her,
at least I think so.

Kelly paints, when she's not at work
and I'll bet she writes poetry.
Kelly fakes it for the others,
but she means it for me,
at least I think so.

Something in that smile says,
"It's useless to pretend it'd be
anything less than vile to
show me to your friends."
But is it in denial or is it in defense?
She still seems like an angel
with Vaseline on the lens.

Kelly lays upon the bed
as a crew lights the set.
Kelly prays it's over soon
so she can start to forget,
at least she tries to.

Kelly says,
"Hey, it pays the rent."
